The Association of Physicians’ Assistants (Anaesthesia) is the representative body of Physicians’ Assistants (Anaesthesia) in the UK. The aims of the Association are to ensure the highest standards of patient care through the education and registration of PA(A)s and to promote the interests of the profession nationally.
The roles of the Association are varied. It represents the interests of the profession on the Anaesthesia Related Professionals Committee of the Royal College of Anaesthetists and other national forums, it holds a voluntary register of qualified PA(A)s and a list of trainees, it is involved in the setting of standards and it advises on education and Continued Professional Development.
The Association is run by an elected committee of PA(A)s who elect a President, Treasurer and Secretary from their number. Particular areas of work are undertaken by sub-committees.
