Managed Voluntary Register
The APA(A) manages the Voluntary Register of qualified PA(A)s, which allows the public and employers to confirm that PA(A)s have not been found guilty of professional misconduct.
Voluntary Registration is a recommendation of both the APA(A) and the Royal College of Anaesthetists. Until the outcome of the government's discussion of the Command Paper "Enabling Excellence - Autonomy and Accountability for Health Workers, Social Workers and Social Care Workers - The Health and Social Care Bill" is known, the voluntary register remains the sole means of registration of the profession. Because of this the APA(A) recommends that any trust employing PA(A)s should insist on membership of the voluntary register.
